How To Fix Things Around The House

How To Maintain A House In The UK

Every homeowner knows there is one certainty in line, your house will need maintenance and repairs at the worst possible time. Either the bills are due right when your tap begins to leak or the radiator breaks down in the middle of winter and you need a repair fast. Tradesmen can often be costly and unreliable at the best of times, let alone when you need an emergency fix. When I first bought my home, my savings were at an all time low so I couldn’t afford to call someone over every time I had a blocked drain or the light switch stopped working.

I needed to learn how to do all these DIY home repairs by myself using the resources I had (mostly the local library). My skills were lacking at first but over the years of countless headaches and problems solving, I’ve managed to become a self proclaimed “home repair hero” saving me thousands of pounds in the process.

Painting and Renovating For Beginners

Nothing freshens up a room like a fresh coat of paint and some redecorating, brining your old nan’s house into the modern age. Now painting isn’t my favourite activity under the DIY umbrella, but these tips can make the experience a lot nicer and less time consuming.

Kitchen and Bathroom Repairs Anyone Can Fix

Some of the higher skilled activities like waterproofing may need a professional but there are plenty of jobs you can do yourself at a fraction of the cost.
