This DIY Girl Doll Bed project is the perfect craft for Fathers and daughters to make together. If you have been looking for the perfect Father Daughter craft that will win them both over, then try this Girl Doll bed on for size.
This is a simple one day project perfect for Fathers and daughters of all ages. You can even have the wood pre cut at the hardware store if you do not own a saw.
To make this father daughter craft for your girl doll you will need:
- Wood Porch Posts
- Plywood
- 1X2’s (optional)
- Wood Screws
- Wood Glue
- Paint
- Nails
- Hammer
- Paint
- Brush
To get started you will want to take four porch posts and cut them to size to make the four corners of the bed. I like to use those small posts that are about 2 inches wide on each side. They have a square base, but rounded top.
Cut 2 down to 1 foot tall and 2 down to 7 inches tall.
Now, take your 3 1X2’s and cut 2 pieces down to 2 feet long. You can also use the left over end of the porch posts or spindles if you wish. They may be long enough in some cases.
Now, place one tall spindle at the end of the 1X2. Pre drill holes and then sew to attach. You want to do this about 5 inches up from the bottom. Repeat on the other end with the shorter spindle.
Now, repeat this on the other side of the bed.
You have the left and right sides assembled but you need to make the bed and foot board for the American girl doll bed. I like to use a thin sheet of plywood or MDF for this.
If you have any left over wood shelving boards, those will work as well.
Cut 1 piece about 6 inches tall and 12 inches wide. This will be the headboard and can be drilled into place just like the rails.
Repeat on the foot board with a smaller piece 12 inches wide and about 1 to 2 inches tall.
Be sure to pre drill holes on the bed so you do not split the thin pieces of wood. This will make a bigger difference tan you realise.
You are now ready to prime out the bed and paint it any color for your little Girl Doll and daughter
